SUMMARY OF COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES - JUNE 2009
The change of time for last Sunday’s outing was opportune. Did you see all those dark clouds rolling in late in the afternoon?!! Fourteen keen photographers ended up at the beach near Q1 for the dawn shoot. The ubiquitous low grey clouds were there on the horizon, but there was still some lovely light, and the tide was low which meant it was possible to get some beautiful reflections in the sand. There were some interesting locations near Q1 and some great architectural shots of iconic buildings once we were at Circle on Cavill. The coffee was good too! There should be some great images for our Robina Exhibition. Sincere thanks to everyone who supported this outing.
MORE CHANGES
Since we have now had two dawn shoots, the committee have decided to have an educational shoot at Rosser Park commencing at 8.00am on Sunday 28 June. Meet at the pergola near the scented garden. This will be a good opportunity for new members to get familiar with their cameras in very pleasant surroundings.
The other change is for the July outing. Instead of the race track (which presented problems for our members who have to work, as well as sunrise timing issues) we will now meet at the Cascade Gardens for another educational shoot followed by a BBQ provided by GCPS. Meeting time to be confirmed.
Thanks to Jeff, Alwyn, Phill, Kathie, Rhonda, Patricia, Laura, Terry, Kevin, Jenny, Brian and Ken for volunteering to help with the framing of the prints for Robina on Saturday 27 June at 9.00am at KOA Rooms. I will be there too! Bring some clean old towels. If you can’t get to a meeting before then, bring your prints on the Saturday morning. I will be sending an entry form as an attachment for members who did not get one last Thursday. We will need some volunteers to collect the boxes of frames from David on Wednesday 23 June at 9.00am and take them to KOA rooms. See me or Jeff at the next meeting.
DIGITAL INTERCLUB COMPETITION
This year the host club is Ipswich and the competition will be held in the Barry Jones Auditorium, Ipswich Library Complex, cnr South and East Streets, Ipswich on Saturday 29th August, 2009 at 10:00am. Registration from 9:30am. The subjects for this competition are: People/Portrait, Nature, ‘Scapes, Music, Occupations, Night Scenes. We have covered all but one of these subjects in our monthly competitions over the past 12 months. If you have additional images you would like considered for selection – especially images that were originally entered as a print but could be entered as a DPI - please send them to Ken. Size should be 1024 x 768 sRGB colour. There is a specific file naming format and Ken will be forwarding details to members shortly. There is an Open Section exclusively for B and AB grade members.
We extend a very warm welcome to the following new members: Diane Murphy, Glyn Evans, Jenny Evans, Winston Churchill, and former member Neil Dunn. We are sorry to lose as a member Angelo Minisini who has re-located to Brisbane.
If any of our members have graphic art skills, could they please contact our president Jeff Hutchison by email
There are quite a few interesting events coming up. Thunder Cats at The Spit (opposite Seaworld) this weekend; PSQ conference at Caboolture... a number of members are going up for Saturday only; Wintersun to 8 June at Coolangatta; Round Mountain Jet Boats at Pottsville?, Beaudesert Country and Horse Festival 5 – 14 June, and Canungra Rodeo 27 June to name a few.
Regards
Vi Wilson, Secretary
