Sept Minutes

SUMMARY OF COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES - SEPTEMBER 2009

A big thank you to Ken Sparrow who put a lot of time and effort into planning the rosters for the Gold Coast Show. It was good to see lots of new faces helping out. Generally the layout for displaying the photos was much better this year. Ken has already sent out a list of winners and place getters.

Thanks also to Kathie Scallan for organizing the September outing to Springbrook. This should be a really lovely day in beautiful surroundings. The sign on form will be at the two next meetings.

The Society outing on
25 October will be a Street/City/Urbanscape in Brisbane. Our last effort was somewhat de-railed (sorry!) because of track work on the line. Hopefully this attempt will be more successful. First departure time will be from Robina at 7.56am – slightly later at other stations. More details in early October.

The
Extraordinary General Meeting to decide the competition rules (nothing to do with Constitution) for 2010 will be held on 22 October. If you would like to suggest any changes, please forward your suggestions to me via email with a copy to Ken, by 1 October. Any suggestions received after this date will be too late for consideration. Please note: I will not be able to reply to your emails until after 29 September. I will be away.

Set subjects for PSQ and the Interclub Digital Projected Images Competition are:
PSQ – Streetscapes, Nature, People as in Photo Travel and Creative.
Interclub – Land/Sea/Urbanscapes, Nature, Portrait, Abandoned, Photo for a Cookbook, Emotions and Open for B and A/B Grade.
The GCPS set subjects have not yet been determined. If you would like to make set subject suggestions, please email them to Ken.

In the recent
Interclub Competition GCPS were placed second (407 points) behind Peninsula (409 points). Redland Bay were third on 399 points. This was a very good effort and thanks are due to Lorraine, Ken and David for making a successful selection of images.

Membership renewals fall due on 1 October. Any member who is unfinancial at the end of November, will be considered ‘lapsed’ and will no longer receive Society information. They will also not be able to vote at the AGM. To aid record keeping, members will be asked to complete a Membership Renewal form. Ken will be sending this out in the next few days (thanks Ken!). We look forward to having you renew your membership.

Nomination forms will be available in the coming weeks. Apart from committee positions, there are a number of other positions to be filled, e.g. Supper Person, Newsletter Editor, Outings Coordinator. Please think about offering your support. These tasks are not onerous and it spreads the work load of the few who do support the Society.

Best wishes
