Bond Nightshoot

A big turn out of enthusiastic new and potentially new members joined the group at Bond University for a night shoot on the January Practical Night.

It rained... didn’t hinder the brave but some of the wooses (like me) decided against getting the gear too wet. We shot from the safety of cover. Call it experience if you like. Or maybe just boring...

We split into groups with experienced members like Jeff, Ken, Brian and yours truly passed on our wisdom to the younger enthusiasts. It’s great to see so many with their newly found passion.

More of the same I say. I really believe this is what new and older members need to have. Time to use their camera with the guidance of someone who has been round the traps a few times. I overheard discussions on compositional suggestions, aperture selection, and other topics.

A new day dawning

David-Lightroom

The website has a new look for 2009. Now we have added a blog...

Wikipedia: A blog (a contraction of the term "Web log") is a Web site, usually maintained by an individual with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video. Entries are commonly displayed in reverse-chronological order. "Blog" can also be used as a verb, meaning to maintain or add content to a blog.

Now I am sure you all knew that and that you’ve all got your fingers on the pulse but it’s sorta new to me so I’ve put that in as a reminder for me.

Sue Black has kindly offered to come on board as my
(assistant) co-blogger. After an in-depth discussion over coffee at Ferry Road Market we concluded that the blog has the potential to replace the now defunct newsletter as a means of keeping you, the members, up to date with the goings-on in the club.

A blog has the advantage of being quickly adaptable to whatever is happening in our world. We would love to get input from the members. Little articles on what you are doing accompanied by some images (up to 5) illustrating the event. Have you found a good location... share it with us all. Have you read a good article on the web... send us the link and we will post the info.

Bookmark the blog or subscribe to the RSS feed (I’ll have to work out how to do that first - hang in there) to be kept up to date on our ramblings.

Our new site has mega storage capability so let’s use it. I hope with Ken’s help to post the entries from the previous month... maybe the awards winners to go with the list that Ken sends out every month. Could the print makers send in the small digi file that their print came from (assuming most of you have some form of digital input these days) or a scan of their print if not.

Let’s make this site work for the benefit of the club. Maybe we can forge links with other clubs worldwide.

So, there you have it, our prospectus in a nutshell. Happy
